SC uses special powers to end ‘irretrievably broken’ marriage

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta recorded a full and final settlement between the spouses and ruled that the marriage, which was marked by long separation and contested litigation, had “irretrievably broken down”. The wife contested the divorce, but the court concluded that the marital relationship had ceased to exist “in any real sense”.
